How do online ads know where I live?
By
Is it from my IP, a cookie or some other tracking method to get my zip code? It really annoys me and I am wondering how to prevent it, especially because it is usually only seen in ads from sleazy advertisers.
I wouldnt think my IP address would be specific enough.
Thanks!

No not the IP Address… Well a script runs to search your zip code stored in your machine at all relevant places (not only cookies) and sends back the info to the advertiser’s server… and whoa… the advertisement shows where you stay….. intelligent naaa????
Can not stop it… coz this script comes with the web page that you had earlier requested for….

Have you signed onto any websites lately or signed up yo anything? Are you also sure your friends havent signed you on to other websites? Also when you vote for programs they can get all your details because the company passes it on.

Well if you’d have taken networking class, you’d be amazed how much information your IP address actually stores. Simple numbers convert into binary, then to hexadecimal and which all lead to deciphering of your even most sensitive info. Ads live for that and adapt to the user. Just avoid or have a really good firewall/blocker from third-party cookies that you do not want.
